Piper Lindsey is 18.5 pounds, which is the 87% percentile! She is gradually going up in her percentile for weight. Here is her age and percentile history thus far:
- 13 days, 58%
- 8 weeks, 68%
- 4 months, 76%
- 6 months, 87%
On the other hand, her height percentages have been up and down, but we can clearly see that she is very tall for her age! Piper is now 27.5 inches, which is the 96% percentile. Previously, she was in the 97th, 73rd, and then 100th percentile.
I’m not sure this matters or will be of interest to any of my readers, but Piper’s head is 17.1 inches in circumference, which is the 83% percentile. Which obviously means that out of 100 babies, she is smarter than 83 of them.
Piper was born a great sleeper (thank you, Jesus). Although, as months passed, Piper began to wake up more often during the night… which meant that mama was up many times during the night. Mommy and daddy tried to put Piper in her own crib and our hearts were not prepared for the intense cries of our baby girl. I know this is something that many people have strong opinions on (whether that is to let your baby cry it out, nurse to sleep, or co-sleep), but I have come to one conclusion: never judge a mama. Every parent and baby is different, and to each their own! So, with that being said, we were not ready for this step. Piper continues to sleep in our room in a bassinet next to my bed. During her many awakenings, she comes into our bed to nurse and be comforted. Stay tuned for our progress in helping her sleep throughout the night!
Piper loves her breastmilk. If I let her control her feedings, she would prefer to live her life attached to the boob. Breastfeeding is so amazing and as I’ve mentioned before, it is clearly something designed by God. Although it is amazing and I enjoy the bond with my baby girl, I also understand that I need to be introducing her to food. We have slowly started this process. I say “slowly” because Piper has not be a fan of anything that does not come from my breasts.
Piper has tried homemade, organic baby food made by her mama, with the help of grandma and grandma’s new baby food maker (steams and purees all in one!) Her first food was Avocado. She was not sure about it, but the texture was smooth enough for her to eat a couple spoonfuls. Green beans on the other hand… she was not having any part of the taste or texture (gag-worthy according to Piper). After a couple spoonfuls, she wanted to nurse, and that was okay with me, because I am not rushing my precious time nursing her.
NOT A FAN OF
Piper loves to smile. She started doing a new-half smile all of the time and it cracked up mommy and daddy. She also loves the Tula carrier, holding hands, and flying in daddy’s arms.
