Oh baby girl, although you haven’t entered the world yet, I already love you beyond words. Here are twenty of my prayers for you:
I pray that you enter this world safely. I pray for me to make the right decisions during labor to bring you into the word as safe as possible, for your daddy as he is going to be my helper and rock through the wonderful process, and for the doctors and nurses as they help with the delivery process. I pray that you come into the world with a loud cry, healthy lungs, and strong heart.
I pray that you know Jesus Christ and you accept him into your precious little heart. That you have a strong relationship with him and you are able to grow deeper as a daughter of God from a young age.
“Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
I pray that you obey your mommy and daddy (hehe)
“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. ‘Honor your father and mother’ (this is the first commandment with a promise), ‘that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.’ Fathers, do no provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in discipline and instruction of the Lord.” Ephesians 6:1
I pray that your life is marked with the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).
I pray that you have confidence about yourself. That you do not struggle with your body image as much as your mommy did. I pray that you know your self-worth and that you accept the way God made you… beautifully and wonderfully made you.
“Do not let your adorning be external – the braiding of hair and putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear – but let your adoring be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.” 1 Peter 3:3-4
I want to say “IF you choose to date,” but I already know that this day will come. So, I pray that WHEN you date, you choose godly men who treat you like a princess, uplift you in every way, talk to you with the utmost respect.
I am already praying for your future husband, whether he is in this world today or will be shortly (since I robbed the cradle with your daddy). I pray that God is working on him everyday to be the man you need and a man who is growing with the Lord (and that you too are being molded into the helper that he needs).
I pray that you see your daddy’s love for me and you; and you aim towards a love like that, because your daddy is the most wonderful husband. And he will be the most amazing daddy (I just know).
“Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.” Ephesians 5:25
I pray that you have angels of protection… you have many people in Heaven that if they had the chance to be here for your birth, would love you unconditionally (great grandparents, your uncle Freddy, and many more). I pray for protection and health over you, as this world is a scary place, but don’t forget we have a strong and mighty God that will always be with you.
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
I pray that you will choose to place yourself around friends that are wise and obedient. The people you place yourself around will truly be apart of molding you.
I pray that you are courageous and stand up for the Lord. I know that the Lord can do so many things with your life, and I cannot wait to see what He has in store for you, baby girl.
I pray that you are able to use your courage to bring others to the Lord and to His goodness, grace, and mercy.
“Declare his glory amount the nation, his marvelous works among all the peoples!” Psalms 96:3
I pray that you have a love for the Word of God. That you dive into the Word often and delight in it all the days of your life.
“Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4
I pray that you have a heart of thankfulness. It is so important, even in the midst of a dark time, to remain thankful of all God has done for you and all he has blessed you with.
“Give thanks to the Lord, for you is good; his love endures forever.” 1 Chronicles 16:34
I pray that you find contentment through your faith in Jesus as this world says we always need more. The Lord will provide for your needs. It is easy to fall into the ‘wants’ of the world, but all you need is Jesus.
“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5
I pray that you use your talents and gifts (given to you by the Lord) for the Lord, just like your daddy who has many gifts.
I pray that you pray often. Prayer is communication with the Lord. Know that he hears your every prayer, little one.
“Pray without ceasing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16
I pray that you find a tremendous amount of love from your extended family that already loves you so dearly, including your: Grandpa Fred, Grandma, Grandpa Chris, Nana, Papa, aunts, uncles, cousins and more!
I pray that you continue to smile. Life is not easy, baby girl, but smile always as it is healing to your soul.
I pray that you know deep down in your heart how much your mommy & daddy love you… tremendously and unconditionally, forever and always!
I can’t wait to meet you and put a name with that beautiful, tiny face.
XO, KATLIN LINDSEY
